Manufacturing an elegant solution
A main gear housing was machined from billet aluminium. Internally a 4:1 final drive ratio was achieved via three helical-cut gears forming part of three 3J Driveline undertook the CAD design and manufacturing of the unit. The design brief being a final drive assembly which could eventually be used in combination with either a conventional or limited slip differential unit as a versatile, bolt-in fully enclosed transmission assembly in a front-wheel drive electric vehicle application. A unit that is precision machined from single billets of top-grade aluminium, to provide an elegant transmission solution for front-wheel driven EV manufacturers now and in the future.
